On one of our recent discovery trips, Smith Galleries discovered the Amoroso Kids baby blankets. We were wowed by the colors and designs. Each 40 inch square machine washable blanket is double knitted in cotton which yields a rich and comfortable feel. The double knit makes it possible to have reverse designs on each side...how cool is that! There are many designs in bright hues or traditional pastels and there are even unisex colors which are perfect for boys or girls.
Smith Galleries has featured the Plexiglas clocks of Addison and Eric Paige for several years. The Plexiglas clocks are made in their studio called "What Will the Neighbors Think". They are now making a brand new collection of steel clocks under the name of "Ravenrock Artworks".
Smith Galleries has featured the wheel-thrown flameware pottery of Terry Silverman for many years. Handmade by Terry since 1973 at his one man studio, The Pottery Works, this cookware suits the needs of everyone in the kitchen, from the gourmet chef to the everyday cook. Flameware is safe to use directly over a gas flame or an electric burner as well as in the oven and even the microwave. These pots provide an even heating surface and continue to hold heat long after they have been removed from the oven or stovetop. Pots are dishwasher safe and can be cleaned with metal pads or utensils; they are very durable and almost impossible to scratch. Designed for the cook who wants a wholesome looking object that works great and is made by a real person.
Peggy Karr Glass is a long time favorite at Smith Galleries. Pictured is her 12" square platter in the Fish School pattern. This is just one of many delightful patterns. Each piece is made by hand by dusting glass enamels through stencils onto a plate of glass. A second piece of special glass called fused glass is layered on top and then it is put in a slump mold and placed in a kiln. The piece is heated to 1600 degrees at which point the two layers fuse together.

Nicole Engblom has filled many homes and hearts with resounding laughter and whimsy. Her ceramic creations made in her studio called ARTZFOLK, are inspired by her love of nature, animals and polka dots; creating fun and functional art with both a fun and pop art feel. Pictured is her blue crab soap dish which is just one of many pieces featured at Smith Galleries.
Smith Galleries has recently discovered the fascinating "Art in Motion" sand pictures by William Taber. Each piece is handcrafted in America with beautiful colored sands from around the world. Black from the African coast, white sands from New Mexico, green from South America and coral pink sands from Southern Utah. Turn one over and the process begins creating a new sand picture. Choose between summer turquoise and sunset orange liquid colors. Exotic Sands are available in three sizes and all styles include a swiveling pedestal. The unique high styled cherry wood or black metal frames will adapt to the decor in any home or office. Exotic Sands are fascinating to watch and have become our number one gift for men (women love them too).
Lee Coulter Wind Machines are now showing at Smith Galleries on Hilton Head Island. Born in Chicago, Lee eventually settled along the central coast of California in the late 70's, where he began an apprenticeship as a jeweler. After working as a jeweler into the mid 80's, he branched out into sculpture in stone and metals. His main focus now as an artist are fantastic wind machines. Each sculpture is handcrafted of copper and brass, insuring a quality that is guaranteed unconditionally. Wind is caught by copper 'wind cups'. This work is substantial enough to use on top of a roof, yet the graceful and hypnotic spinning motion lends an air of elegance wherever it is installed. All kinetic sculpture is available on a 3' copper pipe stand complete with materials for installation in your garden.
I could not wait to tell you about this new Rolled Arm Bench by Sticks that arrived in the gallery on Friday. It is fabulous! It would be beautiful in many places in your home but I think it is perfect for the end of a bed. The top is upholstered in leather and the drawings are accented with stitching.
